Project Description:
The proposed farmhouse for Mr. Shivaram Reddy is a thoughtfully designed G+1 residence set on an expansive 800 sq. yd. site, with a built-up area of 7,820 sq.ft. Rooted in tradition yet refined with contemporary sensibilities, this residence is envisioned as a cultural sanctuary—where heritage architecture meets modern comfort.
Architectural Concept — Tradition Reimagined
At the core of the design lies a distinctive architectural feature—a stepwell (kund) inspired by ancient Indian water systems. More than a functional element, it acts as a spatial and emotional centerpiece, symbolizing heritage and grounding the entire home in cultural context.
A skylight above the kund allows natural light to filter through, creating a dramatic interplay of light and shadow while enhancing the spiritual and architectural depth of the space.
Dual Design Approach
To align with the client’s vision, two curated architectural directions were developed:
1. Chettinad–Kerala FusionA rich blend of South Indian architectural traditions, this option features:
Intricate wooden craftsmanship
Sloped tiled roofs and deep verandas
Ornate columns and symmetrical planning
A warm, nostalgic ambiance rooted in heritage
2. Contemporary Exterior with Kerala InteriorsA balanced approach that merges modern aesthetics with cultural depth:
Clean, minimal modern façade
Interiors inspired by Kerala architecture
Use of natural materials, wood accents, and earthy palettes
A calm, grounded, and elegant living environment
Spatial Planning & Living Experience
The farmhouse is designed for comfort, openness, and connection to nature:
5 Spacious Bedrooms
2 on the ground floor
3 on the first floor
Multiple Living Areas
2 expansive living spaces on the ground floor
1 additional living area on the first floor
Balcony with Scenic Views
Opening towards lush greenery, offering a peaceful retreat
Kitchen Design
A seamless blend of modern functionality and traditional aesthetics, equipped for contemporary use while respecting the design language
Landscape & Outdoor Living
The outdoor spaces are designed to complement the architectural language:
Lush landscaped lawn inspired by Kerala-style simplicity
Emphasis on natural greenery and open breathing spaces
A tranquil environment that enhances the farmhouse’s retreat-like character
Design Philosophy
This farmhouse intentionally avoids over-modernization. By excluding features like swimming pools and overly urban elements, the design remains authentic, grounded, and timeless.
It is not just a residence—it is an experience of living within culture, where every space reflects a connection to tradition, nature, and mindful living.
A Statement of Heritage Living
The Shivaram Reddy Farmhouse stands as a harmonious blend of past and present—a space where architectural heritage is preserved, reinterpreted, and elevated for modern lifestyles.
